Fairford, UK Again the highlight of the Year – took the 2-day bustrip with 4Aviation for the Sunday show and the Monday departures (Park&View West). This year’s theme: „Eyes in the Sky“ with the notable presence of the Pakistan Air Force in the static display and a short flying demo of the U2 Dragon Lady in full operational configuration. My personal highlights: The display of the Danish F16-team and the appearance of the only FIAT G91 in flying condition….in the great Frecce Tricolori livery.

Leszno, Poland June 20,2025 The little airfield in Leszno, Poland, has become a major go-to event in the European Airshow Calendar. Famous for the sunset and evening dispays with plenty of pyro…. Too bad I had to leave early to get back to my hotel. The show has all – from Jet displays to Gliders to Oldtimers to Aerobatic stunts…. Only show in Europe where all 4 display teams of the German Armed Forces were present.

4Aviation Bustrip to Fairford – Airshow Sunday July 21st and then the Departure Day on Monday. Themes were ‚50 Years F16‘ and ‚100 Years RCAF‘. So… lots of Vipers and the fantastic RCAF F18 Solo Demo – amongst the usual mass of visiting aircraft.

The One-Day Meeting Aérienne at Chambley Airfield (France) had already three headliners early in the Airshow year: - The Red Arrows with their first public display in the 60th anniversary season - The formidable Patrouille de France and - the colourful Rafale Solo Display of the French Air and Spaceforce. Worth the trip!

What a hot Weekend it was … the Belgian Air Force Days Kleine Brogel on September 9&10,2023. Highlights: The Swedish Airforce Historic Flight with the Draken and the Viggen! Vrieske with the Dream Viper … the USAF F35 Solo Demo….Last Show of the Belgian A109 Demo etc etc...

The usual two-day bustrip with 4Aviation for the Sunday Airshow and the Monday departures. This years theme: „Skytanker“ – so a lot of air-to-air refuelling capacity was on display. Also ‚100 Years Italian Air Force‘ – with some notable appearances and a BUFF with a Flying Display as well as a joint demo of the spanish Harrier (Matador) and the F35B...a historic sight.

Big Airshow weekend at the Home Base of the famous ‚Patrouille de France‘ at Salon de Provence. Main Theme was the 70th ‚birthday‘ of the Patrouille de France – with a lot of guests. Too bad the weather was not playing along the whole weekend…

The Spotter’s Day at Kleine Brogel had us soaking wet at mid day….Thankfully, the Thunder Tigers took to the air during a ‚dry‘ period and did some impressive ‚Viper‘ Flying… The Airshow Day at Sanicole Flying Club made up for that. You know you have backlight situation there the whole day.. so no complaining...

One Day Trip only this year … Just for the Sunday show (not a lot of sleep.. when you spend two nights in a bus…). Stars of the Show (Static & Flying): The fantastic Korean Black Eagles , the Austrian Airforce Air Policing Demo and the Boeing E-4 in the static display…plus the usual culprits….

The combination of Spotter’s Day at Kleine Brogel Airbase when participants for the Sanicole Airshow come in for X-Servicing and rehearsals for the airshow plus the Airshow itself is always a nice experience.. while the weather plays along…. This year some of the spotters got a special treat from the Ukrainian SU27...they were literally ‚blown away‘...

The last Time the RNLAF presented their ‚Luchtmachtdagen‘ with the famous Air Power Demo.

2019 saw various events commemorating the 1949 Berlin Airlift. The biggest event was hosted by the Wiesebaden Erbenheim Airbase with more than a dozen visiting DC3 / C47 Planes from all over Europe and the US. The Commemorative Airforce brought a handful of thei birds over the pond. Nice pictures with the backdrop of the Taunus hills and a ‚Candy Drop‘ re-enactment as highlight.

Kleine Brogel Airbase The Airforce Days presented a Cross Section of Military Aviation on Ground and in the Air. The BAF presented their units and the Airforce as a workplace in a very professional manner. Good weather ( some clouds .. but all Displays could perform at least medium shows) helped a lot to get some decent shots... My personal favourite was the Ukrainian Flanker Display. Would have loved, however, to see the F35 and the Mig29 in the air as well...but you can't have everything ...

Friday exhibitions of the ILA 2018 at Berlin Schoenefeld airport area. First public showday. Air and ground displays less than optimal. A lot of visiting aircraft did NOT display on that day ( Patrulla Aguila, Gripen, Kawasaki P1) or did not yet arrive ( D-ABYA, Ju-52, almost all of Red Bull's displays). So .. not worth the money for the Business ticket... Most impressive display: A350 XWB .. Rest was standard. Nice to see the AN-225 again... All in all disappointing.

Friday's Sunset Airshow suffered a bit due to the bad weather which did not allow participation of all planned displays ; notably the RAF did not show up ... the others did their best to entertain the public. Saturday did not start promising as well .. heavy rainshowers on my way to KeeBee .. but once there, the cloud base opened up and perfect weather prevailed for the day - which meant tons of photos ! Sunday's Sanicole Airshow was amazing - I wonder how the Flying Club always manages to present one of  the most impressive lineups in Europe - maybe only second to RIAT. I certainly enjoyed the two and a half days and certainly plan to be back in two years time .. 

Took a bus trip with 4Aviation for the Sunday show and the Monday departures..Really good organization, but still a challenge.. 4 complete days and only 5 hours in a real (hotel)bed.. Anyway: Sunday was mostly overcast with an intermittent low cloudbase that only allowed for flat or rolling displays. Luckily, all planned displays could be performed. Needless to say, RIAT is THE biggest military airhow in Europe .. and they proved it. USAF Thunderbirds, Raptor Display, Surprise B2 Flypast, Ukrainian SU27 Display , UK Apache Display with lots of pyrotechnic, U2, B1, B52 in static display .. Couteau Delta etc etc... And Monday was not less interesting with most of the visiting aircraft departing in a 5 hour timeframe. Too bad the big boys (B52 and B1) only left on tuesday... Anyway , the trip was absolutely worth the effort!

Had to leave early at 02:30 AM on Saturday to be on base at 06:30 for Spotter accreditation.. and then it started raining at 08:00 AM and did not stop until 02:00 PM when I decided to cut short the first day .. which left Sunday to take pictures. Although cloudy throughout most of the day, all displays could take place and there was a chance for some decent photos....

Hahnweide Fliegergruppe Wolf Hirth again put on an impressive Oldtimer Meeting with more than 350 planes at the airfield and lots of them in aerial display .. from gliders to Biplanes to Warbirds. One can hardly believe that this event is planned and executed by a private flying club and with the help of lots of volunteers... All the thousands of work hours : Very much appreciated by all visitors. And the weather coldn't have been better .. sunny skies throughout the whole weekend. Hopefully, we'll see another 'OTT' within the next years ! Photos in this album are a selection of more than 1000 that I took during the Saturday event.

Leeuwarden AB RNLAF Open Dagen on June 10&11 2016 - this year dubbed 'Operatie Luchsteun'. Pictures from both airshow days as well as Rehearsals and arrivals on Thursday June 9 - which had to be cut short after the Patrouille Suisse Crash. Both days had less-than-perfect weather for taking photos , but at least most teams could perform their high shows. Star of the event was without doubt the dutch F35 which made its European airshow debut participating in the daily Airpower Demo.

Florennes AB The weather presented itself again less than perfect on both days. Low Clouds with intermittent rainshowers - just as forecasted. Saturday most teams managed to do high shows, though. Sunday was not so lucky... Some nice shots made it through the filter, though...

Big Airshow weekend to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the ‚Frecce Tricolori‘ at their homebase Rivolto. Mostly all well known display teams visited. Plus the Italian Air Force showcasing their capabilities. Saturday started rainy… but wetaher improved… and isn’t the backdrop of the Alps fantastic?

Koksijde Airbase Belgian Air Force Days 2011 at Koksijde Airbase had one of the rare appearances of the USAF Thunderbirds in Europe... They were the Stars of the Show , but to be honest : The European Teams are quite as good ... !

Spotter's Day during the NATO Tiger Meet 2011 at the now closed Cambrai Airbase. Fantastic Weather and a lot of great Tiger liveries made that day a complete success..
